چکیده

Under classical assumptions on the coefficients of the problem (e.g. η − 1 2divb > 0 a.e. in Ω) the matrix A in (2) is definite positive. We solve problem (2) by means of an Optimized Schwarz Method: such methods have been introduced at the continuous level in [4], and at the discrete level in [5]. We design optimized interface conditions directly at the algebraic level, in order to guarantee robustness with respect to heterogeneities in the coefficients.

Optimized Schwarz methods for unsymmetric layered problems with strongly discontinuous and anisotropic coefficients

In this paper we consider unsymmetric elliptic problems of advection–diffusion–reaction type, with strongly heterogeneous and anisotropic diffusion coefficients. We use non-overlapping Optimized Schwarz Methods (OSM) and we study new interface conditions where only one or two real parameters have to be chosen along the entire interface. Using one real parameter it is possible to design interfac...

Quasi Optimal Interface Conditions in Domain Decomposition Methods. Application to Problems with Extreme Contrasts in the Coefficients. Optimized Interface Conditions in Domain Decomposition Methods. Application to Problems with Extreme Contrasts in the Coefficients

Interface conditions are crucial in domain decomposition methods and their design has been the subject of many works. We propose in this paper a novel approach where only one or two real parameters have to be chosen for the entire interface. The method relies on van der Sluis’ result on a quasi optimal diagonal preconditioner for a symmetric positive definite matrix, see [35]. It is then possib...

Optimized Schwarz method with two-sided transmission conditions in an unsymmetric domain decomposition

Domain decomposition (DD) methods are important techniques for designing parallel algorithms for solving partial differential equations. Since the decomposition is often performed using automatic mesh partitioning tools, one can in general not make any assumptions on the shape or physical size of the subdomains, especially if local mesh refinement is used. In many of the popular domain decompos...

On the influence of curvature on transmission conditions

Domain decomposition methods are both highly successful parallel solvers and also important modeling tools, since problems in subdomains can be treated by adapted methods to the physics in each subdomain. Subdomain boundaries are therefore rarely straight lines. The focus of this paper is to study the influence of curvature on transmission conditions used in optimized Schwarz methods. For strai...

Optimized Schwarz methods with nonoverlapping circular domain decomposition

While the classical Schwarz method can only be used with overlap, optimized Schwarz methods can also be used without overlap, which can be an advantage when simulating heterogeneous problems, problems with jumping coefficients, or also for independent mesh generation per subdomain. The analysis of nonoverlapping optimized Schwarz methods has so far been restricted to the case of straight interf...
